Virtual Reality (VR) technology and its derivatives are mature enough to be used in environments like a nuclear research laboratory to provide interesting tools and procedures that let developers and operators optimize their tasks. For this reason, VR Lab (Virtual Reality Laboratory) has been created.
The main goal VR Lab wants to achieve is to optimize the effort required to perform particular repetitive tasks, stimulating at the same time the cooperation among the different groups and services.
Based on the experience acquired during the preliminary studies, different applications based on VR technology are under development at LNL. In this moment the principal field the VR Lab is involved are:
- Virtual Training for Radio Protection
- Laboratories Virtual Tour
- Multimedia Platform for Meetings
- Data integration for laser track optimization
- 3D Human-Machine Interface
