Plasma electropolishing (PEP) and Wire Laser Additive Manufacturing (WLAM) are two technologies developed for linear particle accelerators with resonant cavities. The performance of a superconducting accelerator cavity depends heavily on the surface finish. The two innovative technologies developed at LNL are a possibile breakthroughts for particle accelerators and have multiple industrial applications (see news on the INFN technology transfer page).
