Current version box
The current version box looks a bit silly with all that whitespace in it. Any suggestions on what to do with the layout to fix it? --MZMcBride 08:50, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with it. It looks more silly if the bottom of the boxes are not lined up. --HappyDog 19:23, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
"What's new"?
I think it would be nice to be able to get more detailed news on MediaWiki status and see what's being developed or fixed. I don't know if there is a page for it, but if there is then maybe a link on the main page will be appropriate? --Nathanael Bar-Aur L. 23:33, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
"System administrators"?
Why is the headline on the middle box "System administrators" and not "Server administrators"? The name "system administrators" might be confused with "administrators, also known as sysops", who have much lower privileges than server administrators. --Damian Yerrick 03:52, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Not sure where to ask about anonymous feedback extension
I read about an anonymous feedback extension used on the German WP. I would like to know more about it, but I don't know where to ask. I don't check this site, so if you could reply at my WP talkpage I would appreciate it. Thanks. - Peregrine Fisher 22:42, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- You can ask software questions at Project:Support desk, or see communication for a list of other places to ask.--Brian 11:03, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Do not know how start a new topic for discussion
I installed mediawiki and need to know how users can start new discussions and new pages for them.
- There are a few different ways to start new pages and discussion pages (talk: namespace), When a tab for a page or discussion is red mediawiki will invite you to edit the page if clicked. If you do a search for the name of the page using the sidebar, a red link will appear inviting you to create some content (pages that don't exist always have red links). Another way is to learn how the query string is structured when hovering over links in the interface and manipulate that directly when confident, case sensitive correct spelling is essential (some info available at Manual:Short URL). --Zven 08:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Move the "language" box
The language box at the bottom of the main page isn't most visible. I suggest moving it to the top of the page. However I'm not an administrator here and the page is protected, so I need someone who is an admin to do it. Techman224Talk 01:06, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not seeing the benefit in this. Do you have any proof that users who speak other languages are coming to this page and not finding the other languages box because it is too far down? --Skizzerz 16:36, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

- It's not like there are too many multilingual pages and besides, the main page states that primary documentation language is English. IMHO, it also would look way too messy and confusing on the top of the page. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 16:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Donate box?
Why not add a donate box (like "Users" box) that says something along these lines "Like the software? Did it help you? Why not show your support and donate anything?"--Alnokta 13:21, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
