AURIGA: from run1 to run2 

The first Auriga run (1997-1999) was forced to stop by a vacuum leakage inside the cryostat in November 1999 which could not be fixed without opening the cryostat, thus warming up the detector. This stop has prolonged since now as chance was taken to improve by large amount the performance of the detector, so to allow occasional gw detection.

Main problems in Auriga Run1 were:

1. poor sensitivity and confined in a too small frequency range
2. poor duty cycle: only 30% after removal of time periods when the detector output did not follow the model (presence of not modeled noise)

To overcome these problems the detector has been subject to major changes, regarding:

• the readout
• the suspension
• the cryogenics

In the meantime we have also improved and adapted to the upgraded detector:

• the data acquisition
• the data analysis

We are now in the process of assembling the detector: look at the pictures.
