Call for Proposals 2011


You are kindly asked to submit your proposals and new requests for beam time for experiments to be performed at the An2000 Accelerator Laboratory in the period: March - July, 2012. The dead-line for submission is February, 14th 2012


SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS

Proposals must be submitted only via web. Please, use the on-line submission form to apply for beam time at the AN2000 Accelerator.

The first part, "Beam Time Request", must be completed in all the fields. You have also to attach the "abstract" file and the "proposal" file. The proposal should contain:

 

New Experiments:

- The description of the experiment (max two pages), with the state of the art at international level.

 

Experiments already approved by USP in the previous semester:

- Please present a clear report on the status of the project. This should include a summary of the beam time already used, the results achieved in comparison to international research and a list of publications related to the experiment as well as indication of the progress expected from new runs.

Please, take notice that only Microsoft Word (.doc), Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files will be accepted. Should you need to translate your .ps file to .pdf format, you can use this utility.

Once you have submitted the "Beam Time Request" a report page on inserted data will be displayed and you will be asked to fill in also the on-line "Targets Request Form". The Targets Request form may be filled in more times by clicking again the "Targets Request Form" link in the report page.

After the submission, You will receive an e-mail message confirming that your request has been registered. Do not delete the message, because it also contains a password needed for later modifications (see below).

MODIFICATIONS

Before sending your requests, please be sure to have inserted correct data. In any case, you can modify your requests by clicking the "modify" links in the report page: the "Modify the Beam Time Request Form", the "Modify this Target Request" (one link for each target request submitted). Should you need to modify your records after one hour from the submission time or later, you can connect to to http://www.lnl.infn.it/accelerators/proposals/conferma.php but you will be asked for security reasons to insert a username (put your acronym) and the password sent you by e-mail. Pls, remember that no modification will be accepted after the deadline!!

EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS

All proposals will be evaluated by the User Selection Panel (USP). The USP writes out a list of priority experiments according to their scientific merit. On the basis of this list the LNL Director will prepare the list of approved experiments. The AN2000 Coordinator will then prepare the beam time schedule on the basis of the USP's evaluation and Director's decisions, and according to the requests contained on the "Beam Time request" forms.

Radiation Protection/Responsibility declaration.

The Responsibility Declaration (used also as unique form for the request of radioactive sources and dosemeters) is available at the address http://www.lnl.infn.it/~radprot/. The form must be sent at least a week before any specific run.
