A glance at the early stage of the universe

EXPERIMENT  PURPOSE

ALICE is a high energy physics experiment at the
LHC collider of the CERN.
Its aim is to study the strongly interacting
matter
at extreme energy and densities formed in
ultra-relatisistic heavy-ion collisions

In this condition the formation of a new phase
of matter, the quark-gluon plasma, is expected.
The existence of such a phase and its properties
are a key issue in QCD for the understanding of
confinement and of chiral-symmetry restoration.
